Hailey Chaney

Hey Portland! I’m Hailey, you can also call me Hail!

I just moved back to Maine after 10 years away. I was born and raised in Jay, ME! As many who struggled in school, I moved off to Los Angeles after I finished High School, knowing college was not going to be a thing for me. Growing up, the only classes I excelled in were art classes. I took as many as I could in grade school, and always thought it could be cool to be a tattoo artist one day. I never knew where to start, or who to even ask. It’s not like you go to college for tattooing!

Once I moved to LA, my love for tattoos grew. I started getting tattooed more often, building relationships with my artists, and taking extra time to ask questions about the industry and how to get involved, while trying to decide if this was the right choice for me. That uncertainty disappeared once I attended my first tattoo convention. The Golden State Tattoo Expo was everything I loved and more. Tattoo artists everywhere, so many different styles and personalities, beautiful low riders, artsy vendors, and so much more! The day I walked out of that convention was the day I finally decided to fully commit myself to finding an apprenticeship.

Shortly after that, covid hit. I moved back to the east coast, and later ended up landing a tattoo apprenticeship in Cambridge, MA in 2021! I took my first client March 1st, 2022. My mentor was a fine line micro realism artist, a huge reason I ended up falling into the fine line realm!

While I predominately work with fine lines, and love it, I also have a big love for bolder lines!

I love to work with floral and botanical subject matter, fauna, sea creatures, fantastical creatures, swords and shiny things, abstract work, bugs, you name it!

I get a lot of inspiration from day to day life. My 3 cats (Twinkle, Scarlett, and Sandwich) and my Shiba, Suki, inspire me anytime they do something cute (which is constantly, let’s be honest). I love cute stuff. Come and get a cute tattoo in my cute workspace, and let’s be cute together.
